FOUNDER & OWNER

Born in Baltimore and raised in Virginia Beach, founder Katie Denton has always loved living life on the water. She grew up in the close-knit Patterson family, with parents who fostered a strong sense of family through travel and time spent together.

Her love of travel has persevered, and as the mother of three small children, she has an even stronger understanding of the importance of family. Katie also knows the significance of creating a timeless home. It’s a skill she learned from her beloved grandmother—the ultimate hostess—who imparted her granddaughter with a love of fine linens, fresh scents and classic taste.

DESIGN SPECIALIST

Danielle was born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Growing up, she would visit family here on the Outer Banks. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Danielle became a full time resident of Kill Devil Hills.

Katie and Danielle crossed paths during an interior design project. From there, Danielle became a part of the Bees Nees family. “The most rewarding part about my job is seeing how our hard work can make beautiful memories for our guests.”

INTERIOR DESIGNER

When Elizabeth Hartz first met Katie Denton, they were collaborating on a design plan for Katie’s home in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Over paint samples, fabric swatches, and sketches on napkins, these kindred spirits built a strong friendship. 

Trained as an interior designer in New York, Elizabeth brings her classic aesthetic to Katie’s beachside charm. Through this partnership, they created the lovely layers and stylish, organic textures that that visitors to Bees Nees cottages simply adore.
